The Beginning - 1996

RealAudio from Progressive Networks introduces live audio streaming on the Internet. In May of 1996, Christian Internet Radio Network (CIRNET.com) begins broadcasting the live church services of Jesus Fellowship in Miami, FL. This was a first for any local church.

Christian Internet Radio (CIRNET.COM)

May 1996 - CIRNET.com begins the first live 24-hour per day Christian Internet Only Radio station. CIRNET.com currently reaches over 12.5 million listeners annually world wide in 187 countries. CIRNET.com currently broadcasts live sermons, archived sermons, CD's, live talk shows, concerts, conferences, and seminars. CIRNET.com features the top Christian recording artists and groups in America with a CD rotation of over 200.

August 1996 - CIRNET.com hosts the first live church conference in history. In Orlando, FL at Disney World CIRNET.com broadcasts the 1996 conference for International Congress of Local Churches.

June 1997 - CIRNET.com broadcast the first Live Christian Concert in history! New Song and Erin O’Donnell live concert from Miami, Fl

Christian Internet TV (CITV.COM)

March 1997 - Christian Internet Television (CITV.com) begins broadcasting live on the Internet using RealVideo software. Palm Sunday, March 30, 1997 CITV.com broadcasts the first live church services at Jesus Fellowship in Miami, FL. Since March 30, 1997, Jesus Fellowship has broadcast all of their weekly services live through CITV.com and CIRNET.com.

April 1997 - CITV.com introduces the first on-line Christian Resource Center, encoding and broadcasting on demand hundreds of videos. Videos include on-line video sermons, teachings, conferences, concerts, music videos, entertainment videos, and made for the Internet productions.

May 1997 - CITV.com contracts with Harvest Productions to exclusively broadcast their made-for-Internet movies, sitcoms, and comedy productions.

June 1997 - CITV.com introduces the first on-line Messianic Jewish Video Resource Center, providing both videos and music CD’s that target the Messianic Jewish community.

July 1997 - CITV.com begins simulcasting Christian Radio and Television stations nationwide. Affiliates include TBN, Oral Roberts University, Word of Faith Network, and many others.

CITV & CIRNET Partnership begins

September 1997 - CITV.com & CIRNET.com partner to form Christian Internet Radio and Television Network. This new alliance creates the largest network of Christian radio and television stations working together on the Internet. It also provides the largest on-line audio and video Christian Resource Center.

September 1997 - The Christian Internet Radio & Television Network contracts with Miami Christian University to provide broadcasting services for all on-line classes, lectures, seminars, offering audio/video archives and live university level classroom lectures.

September 1997 - The Christian Internet Radio and Television Network contracts with COICOM, the World Federation of Christian Broadcasters and Mass Media, to bring on-line Spanish Christian radio and television stations.

June 1998 - The Christian Internet Radio and Television Network contracts with Amazon.com to sell Christian books, videos and CDs.
